Feedback for Car Hire Excess Insurance has been compiled from 316 customer reviews:

Fair price, fortunately I did not need to claim. Only if i had would i be able to fully comment on the service.

Good price for policy but haven't had to claim so don't know if they're good then.

No mercy from the company if you make a mistake. Paid for 2 days policy then immediately realised it did not cover a van from a car rental company. E mailed reduce my excess immediately and sent them the van hire contract as proof that I did not have a car and they seemed more desperate to retain my £9.50 premium I paid than I was to get it returned. I hope the £9.50 they kept can go towards the company training on some basic customer care skills.

it was easy, no problems

Excellent service when I need it! I only used it once after a coalition with a deer and everything was very professional, very quick, very simple. I am really big fan of reduceMyExcess!

Prezzo competitivo. Documentazione chiara. Processo di sottoscrizione veloce e chiaro.

Very easy to use and straight forward

Quick and easy to arrange. Saves money which is always good. Will use again

Fast, efficient service online.

Easy to purchaser on-line and very competitive price. Didn't need to make a claim so cannot comment on this service.

Easily arranged online prior to collecting the car and much cheaper than adding on insurance through the hire company. ReduceMyExcess are also rated one of the top excess insurance providers by Which? Magazine so it’s not just my opinion. I will be using ReduceMyExcess again in future

Hard to track anyone down to speak to for any queries. Think it is pretty crappy that you can not extend or alter any booking but instead need to make an entirely new booking (at crazy inflated prices). Will shop around next time - based solely on these two factors (bad service & inability to alter booking).

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback and for getting in touch. I am sorry that you have not been happy with the service received. We are able to extend your cover by adding extra days on etc if you contact us ahead of the time this is required. This is no issue at all. Checking our system, the contact we received was not from you as the policyholder and we were therefore unable to process the request in line with data protection. We responded to the enquiry confirming this as the case and asking for the policyholder to get in touch. Kind regards Rebecca

Exclusions should be clearly stated in the terms and conditions, not in the FAQs. Would not recommend this policy as it does not cover the most likely times most people will need to pay an excess for a hire car - notably courtesy cars from garage or insurance company. This is not obvious from the terms and conditions.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the cover. I have to disagree that our policy wording does not clearly confirm what our policy provides cover for. This is specified on the first page of the document. If cover is not suitable you can cancel if required. Please submit your request through our contact form and we can take a look at this for you - https://www.reducemyexcess.co.uk/contact.aspx Kind regards Rebecca

Simple to arrange and saves money over car hire firms arrangements

Easy and quick.

Great value, piece of mind with no need to worry about car hire excessive rates.

Easy and clear website

I travelled to France to view houses to buy. I rented a car, and thought I should have cover for the excess. I've used ReducMyExcess in the UK before, so used them. Only after I had already collected the hire car did I discover that the ReduceMyExcess policy was completely worthless - because France is not a safe country with respect to covid! I will never use this company again.

Hi Simon, Thank you for getting in touch. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy. This is completely incorrect - as standard our policy will not cover you in countries where the FCO have advised against travel. Our insurers have however agreed to honour cover in line with the FCO advice as long as the advice is specifically in line with Covid19. So there is no reason that cover would not have been valid for you in line with Covid19. Please see our FAQ's for more information regarding this. Kind regards Rebecca

Hi Rebecca/Dominic, Thank you for responding. Just to be clear, when you state Our insurers have however agreed to honour cover in line with the FCO advice as long as the advice is specifically in line with Covid19.", do you mean that cover does extend to countries which are not on the FCO "safe travel" list, as long as the reason for exclusion from that list is Covid19? If that is indeed the case, I will try to make a claim - and of course, if successful, turn my negative review into a very positive one. Best regards, Simon

Hi Simon, Yes that is correct. Please visit our website where you can see how to submit a claim if required. Kind regards Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for explaining that I really was covered after all! When I submitted a claim in respect of the excess charged by Sixt, ReduceMyExcess paid the claim in full within just a few days! I don’t know how to change the title of my review, although obviously I would like to, but I have given you the appropriate score of 5 stars.

Very easy to deal with.

This cover save's me hundreds of pounds a year on having to buy hire car excess insurance. It makes car hire affordable and the policy is easy to understand
