very long wait to collect car. They did not have the car I had ordered and gave me an "upgrade" to a car I did not want (I told them but that was all that they could offer). Returning the car was very smooth.

Really helpful on collection and thanks to Bernadette for her help . It would have helped to have far better drop off instructions which we had to find from the web as it was a one way rental. We had a Honda CRV and it was very good.

I realised, two days into the holiday, that they had signed me up for 'fuel up front' where you pay them for a full tank of petrol so that you don't have to fill the tank before drop off. I didn't have the energy to phone them but complained at drop off and they made me a very favourable offer which I accepted.

A good start to the booking, in that the queue was very short to pick up the car, unfortunately however they didn’t have the car we had ordered, so they offered us an upgrade, which was appreciated, until they told us we would had to pay extra for this. They quickly retracted the demand for extra money after we complained to the manager. Once we agreed to take the car, I spent 10 minutes taking detailed photos and videos of the car inside and out, as from experience car hire firms will try to pin damage already on the vehicle on you when you return tue car. I wasn’t wrong, the car return guy found a teeeny tiny scratch on the bumper and said it was isn’t there when they gave me the car. I showed him a picture of the bumper that proved him wrong and he relinquished his claim. All in all, Avis isn’t bad and there are a lot worse out there, but you must take detailed pictures of the car inside and out on collection, or they will have you for damage you maybe didn’t do.

The AVIS preferred service is quick and simple and no hard sell on the add ons. Have found this to be the case with AVIS wherever I have hired cars in Europe

A TOTAL DISGRACE OF A COMPANY. Car was paid upfront in full before collection. They charged me £116 for a deposit which I’m still waiting fo get back. On return they wanted to charge me again for something which they couldn’t explain. I refused. Total joke of a company wanting to rip of customers.

At Jersey Airport, the car hire desks are in Arrivals and not Departures, that’s the first thing to note. At this location, Avis says that you should bring the car back with no petrol in the tank but that was ok as there was an indicator stating how many miles the remaining petrol would get you. There were no probs with the car except Avis had omitted to refill the windscreen washer water.
