Avis prices are OK and I gain KLM Flying Blue miles. No rep. at the airport - keys handed over by airport service staff and returned to drop-box. All well and good unless you have questions about the vehicle. This was a new model Kia hybrid with all manner of bells and whistles which I expect many people, like me, are not used to. I simple operational checklist would be a bonus especially if one wants to turn off some of the irritating optional extras - e.g. lane centring

Had to choose the airport although it was not close to town due to restrictive hours on the city location The car was much larger than I asked for although a very nice new clean car, I struggled to park in the small Danish car parks. I believed id paid in full before I arrived yet had another £292 bill on my card when I left the office. When I queried this I was told it was roadside assistance and a full tank of fuel. The assistance was in my first bill so shouldn’t have been added. The fuel I was told even if I return with 1p of fuel missing id be charged for a full tank. They charged me for the bridge but when I arrived at the bridge it hadn’t been paid so I had to pay myself. They wanted me to sign that I was happy and seemed surprised when I would not. Waiting to see if refund any of my excessive fees after my complaint.

Slow and unfriendly service on pickup, no one explained the car controls, no one there at drop off, excess charges at drop off almost doubled the price of the rental.

Downgraded to a 50000 car with bumps and scratches already. No where close by to refuel. No clear signage as to where car was located. Car had tyre warning the whole time. Not fixable by filling with air and no puncture

Whilst I was given a brand new car with delivery miles it had little or no fuel, and I had to drive around looking for a garage at 8pm with the low tank warning light flashing!

Pick up could have been better if they had better signage to the QuickPass desk. Once at the desk very quick as was returning the vehicle.

Actual car itself was fine. Scam service though. A very, very hard sell of insurance (to the point they tried to say that the standard insurance doesnt actually cover anything) and then an outright lie that 'excess insurance isn't recognised in Croatia' - doesn't matter, does it, you claim back the excess in the UK if required. They also tried to tell me there was no breakdown assistance unless I paid for more insurance, despite this being clearly marked as included on my booking. Also, while I booked a baby seat, this wasn't even mentioned at check-in (luckily I'd had the foresight to bring my own in the end). As I said, the car was fine, pick-up of the actual vehicle was ok, but you need to hold your nerve at the front desk.

They charged me more than the agreed price to cover the petrol in the car and said to bring it back empty. That was virtually impossible to judge so I ended up returning it with about the same amount of petrol as when I picked it up. Bit of a con really. The car was a hybrid Toyota Yaris, not very comfortable and constantly beeping about one thing or another. Generally unimpressed about a very expensive rental.

Very good - I like Avis. I wish their airport signage was better - all great to just pick up the keys from a kiosk in the car park but finding the car park kiosk - is tricky.
