Top Five Tips from our Customers

By , 24 July 2017

This blog is less about me, and more about you. To be specific, it’s more about what you (our customers) have been telling us about your car hire experiences. They keep rolling in at the moment with so many of our customers jetting off on their summer holidays.

I started to notice that loads of people were coming up with similar tips and tricks for dealing with the car hire process. So rather than me write a blog about my thoughts and ideas, I’m handing the baton over to you for this one…..

  1. Tablets and Phones are for more than just Holiday Snaps – Grizzly hired from Europcar in Nice Airport and was generally happy with his experience rating them 8 out of 10. He, like many others, suggests getting footage of your car before you sign. ‘Out came the iPad camera and I went around recording all damage’.

  2. Ask questions about the car - Baz was hiring from Alamo in Belfast Airport during a recent trip. He was really happy with the experience, rating Alamo 10 out of 10. He, like so many of you, had this to say‘we should have asked how to operate the lights and particularly the fog lights as 20 miles on we encountered low cloud!’.

  3. Download a good Sat-Nav for your phone – Papi72 took a trip to Chania Airport in Greece. He hired with Europcar and was really pleased with the experience, rating them 9 out of 10. He was impressed that the desk-rep picked him up in the arrivals hall and the whole process was nice and smooth. He also made a suggestion that pops up a lot ‘Recommend downloading Navmii Greece app, works very well as satnav on your phone’.

  4. Don’t be late! – Remember it takes time to get through passport control and collect baggage, factor this in when deciding on your collection time. Micky F was renting with InterRent in Ljubljana, Slovenia recently and found that some hire companies don’t tolerate delays as well as others. ‘I was charged 30 Euros for late pick up despite being 2 minutes after the quoted pick up time’

  5. Book your excess cover with ReduceMyExcess (no, we didn’t pay anyone to write this!) – Ian Croydon hired a card with GoldCar from Palma in Mallorca. ‘Following payment of an excess for minor damage to the bumper while reversing, Reduce My Excess dealt with my reimbursement claim swiftly and efficiently, for a fraction of the premium that the hire company would have charged.’

Thanks to everyone that’s taken the time to give us their tips and tricks so far. There’s plenty more where they came from, and we look forward to sharing them with you soon.
