Booked a car as part of a BA holiday package and, by mistake, was landed with a Kia EV6 electric. I have had no previous experience of electric cars so it was a steep learning curve, particularly getting it started. Was sold a Shell Recharge card but couldn't get it activated as wasn't getting an email back. Emailed Shell twice about this but still no activation email. Tried to change it to petrol car but Budget wouldn't budge. Usual scenario - given a piece of paper with car location in a large multi-story carpark. Eventually found it and did a round-car check for any damage despite Budget saying there wasn't a mark on it. Video'ed it as well. On return, followed a large queue of returning cars and was told to leave car with keys in it. I asked a marshalling guy about it being checked for any damage. He said it would be done later by a 3rd. party engaged to check out returned cars for damage - being paranoid about this aspect of car rental having had problems before, I video'ed car again and was certain there was no damage. Whilst awaiting check-in, I received an email from Budget with Damage section totalling £203.89 itemised as wheel scrape @ £93.09, processing fee @ £38 and 'On the ground Vehicle Idle Time' ? Luckily I had time to go back to the Budget desk and 'had a word'. I said there was definitely no damage incurred in the 2 weeks I had the car and what was Vehicle Idle Time? A very pleasant and helpful lady - Mirana - went through the details and went to see the manager. On return, she said that this had all been wiped out so no additional charge. Phew! The Vehicle Idle Time was because the rental was 14 days but returned 8.6hrs. late. This was scrapped because it was part of a holiday package. The scraped wheel charge was either not believed or a goodwill gesture. It was lucky I could go back to the Budget desk and remonstrate this. If the email had arrived when I was back in the UK, it would have been a nightmare to contest this. Based on this issue, I would be happy to go with Budget again.

Selected an electric car by mistake - Kia EV6. Bit ofa beast, once you get it started. Disappointed that when we finally found the car in the multistory carpark, there were instructions on the starting sequence so struggle initially. When car was returned, I was told to just leave for checking and leave keys in car. Whilst

The only slight negative was that we were ready to collect car 45 minutes earlier than booked as I had allowed an extra hour in case of delays etc. The reception person saud we would have to wait the 45 minutes before we could take car. Only small issue but I might put it under 'petty'. Other than that car was in good condition and all went smoothly.

Having booked a BA holiday including flights and car hire I found that I had to pay additional insurance when I picked up the car despite having a Reduce My excess policy - apparently this was because I had a British Driving license There was also a hard sell in vehicle upgrade

The welcome and assistance was 2nd to none. Also received an upgraded car which was unexpected. The return experience was less than satisfactory. We searched for a petrol station near the airport to fill up but could not find one so had to return the vehicle half full. We were charged £5 per litre as a result plus VAT which we think is daylight robbery. I can appreciate the need to pay a little extra but this was totally unacceptable. Sadly this spoilt what was a great experience until this point.

It took a long time to get the car due to a queue of people but the process was quick once I got to the front. Helpful assistant at the desk and on getting the car. Easy to return and £1300 on my credit card disappeared two days later,,

Appalling and dangerous. I was given a car whose illegal front tyres were so badly worn because of misaligned tracking they were almost down to the casing and the metal threads were showing through. I only noticed this the next day when I could see both tyres in clear daylight. The discussion with Budget took some hours, the car being eventually trailered away. Budget could not find a replacement car locally and offered me a taxi back to Blagnac with a cost limit so I would have had to pay for about half the taxi fare and which would have taken a number of hours which I could not afford. I shall be making a formal complaint and will expect return of my money and compensation for hiring me a potentially lethal vehicle.
